It's always easy to say, "It's not my fight" or "Good luck to them! Here's a $1". It's easy to believe that something we don't necessarily connect to is not our fight and that we shouldn't get involved, yet many times we should. They are something we should be standing up for and not only for ourselves, but for the future generations to have as well.
We have many flaws in society and I can name plenty, however it's the educational system that is truly the more terrifying and shocking. Budget cuts that leave schools with little to nothing, money that is never being used, separation of economic classes, unobtainable education for all, and so much more. It is almost unreal how long this has been able to run like this and many before us have tried to do something - anything - to change it, but it's not that easy. They are outnumbered by those who want to keep the academic system the way it is, so this is where we come in. We can make a difference in not only our education, but in everyone's. By giving equal opportunities and resources to students and teachers, we can help rebuild our school systems and have them thrive again.
Change may seem hard and impossible, but our world is changing everyday. Technology, new inventions, new programs, they are all being created even as you read this. Why can't this change as well? I believe that this is a much better source than building more prisons or taking more money from the taxpayers. By changing our academic system we wouldn't need all those jails in the first place! People wouldn't have to rely on violence and illegal jobs if they had a quality and secure education. Make the difference - because it is your fight.
