Their are many thoughts that come to mind when you think of "engagement". Yes, their is the common knowledge of the action; "popping the question" (but that will happen later on in my life), but I'm talking about engagement: being focused on a certain subject or action. I find many things engaging, such as: kids, reality shows, novels, mysteries, murder cases, interesting conversations, my boyfriend, my family, and especially engrossing discussions. In these moments, your mind is only centered on one thing and this is when the beauty of the mind emerges.
Books have always been able to engage me, well at the least the ones that I'm interested in. I enjoy many different genres of books like novels, fiction, fantasy, history, old literature (Pride & Prejudice is my favorite book of all time), comics, and many others. I think what I find so fascinating is that these worlds are so different from our own or they show the changes in our societies, but they have all been able to relate to me and me to them. I can follow their journeys, but also be able to reflect on my own life and say, "I'm not the only one."
That's the gift we can all give to each other, but we first must engage ourselves and share our stories with those who might need them.
